The best, best barbaque I have always made. I cut it down to feed 6. Large mistake- this is something y'all want for leftovers. And so skillful. Didn't change a matter.
07/05/2007
I did non get to cook for 24 hours, and so I started the brisket on high for 4 hours so reduced to low and cooked for another 16 hours. Was very tender. I did apply kosher common salt and black peppered the meat before cooking. I also trimmed alot of fatty off the brisket. There was still enough left to flavour it. The sauce was expert, but a bit sweet for my family's tastebuds. (I liked information technology though) v stars for my opinion, only gave information technology 4 considering of the opinion of my bunch. I volition do it once more...but with a different sauce. Besides served with kaiser buns and aged swiss cheese slices.
05/07/2008
I cooked for only 6 people so my brisket weighed only 2.v lbs. I adjusted the amounts for everything else to suit the size including the time. I cooked it on high for two hours in my crockpot, and then I turned it to Depression for 6 hours. It was tender and Succulent!
05/x/2008
There is no option to give NO Stars, because this one was a total waste. I wasted skillful money on this cutting of meat! I wasted 25 hours of electricity! The meat was burnt on the bottom, it was chewy like leather. The only moist function was the Fatty on the meat. Now I have to get accept-out. I followed the directions to a tee. I used the servings converter to iv servings for my husband and me. This is the start recipe I've tried on hither that I totally hated it!
06/10/2010
People who are saying that this was burnt and chewy.. heed up! lol you can't reduce the size of the cutting to accomodate less people and Not change the cooking fourth dimension as well! 1 reviewer wrote that she calculated for 4 people, which is only 1.5Lbs of brisket - then it states that she still cooked information technology for 24 hours!! Of course it was leathery and inedible - reduce the cooking length too!. This is a five star recipe when done properly. I did add some chipotle and some hot cayenne sauce to counter the sugariness.
01/24/2008
I take made this twice at present. Information technology is one of our favorites! I did not follow recipe on the cooking time. I did not want it to burn!
10/21/2007
A very tasty dish that needs to be a petty more bold and spicy. I will use this recipe again, however, I will add together some character of my ain the next fourth dimension! I was but serving six people and needed to cut the recipe by 2/three, only it still turned out wonderful. I followed the directions exactly and fifty-fifty used the strongest of coffees yous tin detect here in Italy to melt it in, Caffe Kimbo. Very tender, very juicy and a first-class base to build from. This could be a definite crowd pleaser when served with the right vinegar condiments.
05/11/2008
My son and I couldn't resist making this, because of the weird combination of ingredients. It was an interesting experiment, lots of fun! Not bad tasting! - but there are much amend recipes for beefiness brisket on this site.
10/21/2008
If you follow the directions for this recipe you will be pleasantly surprised. I actually did melt it for the 24 hours on low and my family loved it. Unfortunately there was only a ii.5 lb brisket available but none the less there was none left. I volition and have melt this again.
05/07/2008
The beefiness turned out nicely, merely wasn't quite what I was expecting. It had a balmy sweet taste, rather than something more assuming. I would add some spice adjacent time to enhance the flavour. This recipe makes a lot (I even cut back to a 5 lb. brisket) and then information technology'southward skilful for a crowd.
08/12/2008
This was and then burnt and tough we couldn't enjoy it.
07/12/2011
There is no mode I would melt an viii lb brisket fifty-fifty on Low for 24 hours. Any crock pot worth having and working properly should take it sufficiently cooked in 8-10 hours. So that is why there are and then many reviews that say it was burned. I take used the combination of ingredients before and it is first-class. However, i adjusted the cooking time to 1 hour per pound on Low.
07/xiii/2009
This turned out not bad. I read reviews before making it and saw some said it was dry and burned. It seems only a few had that issue but information technology fabricated me take extra precautions. I used a roasting bag fabricated for tedious cookers and besides used parchment paper under the lid. This was far from dry. It was the most tender, moist and delicious brisket I have ever made. The sauce is wonderful and I did add nigh 4 TBS of Louisiana Hot Sauce just to kicking it upward a bit. My hubby actually liked information technology and he'due south non a big BBQ fan. I put my tedious cooker out on the patio because I didn't desire 25 hours of fifty-fifty a small heat source in my kitchen since our air conditioner runs 24 hours a day this fourth dimension of year. I'm a displaced Washingtonian living in Texas for the concluding v years and take eaten a lot of Texas BBQ. I think this is best I've tasted. Thanks for this recipe. Tin't expect to transport it to my son who is well known for his BBQ.
05/29/2011
I have made this several times. Even if you have NO cooking experience, you will be able to get in perfectly. I usually employ a 4-half dozen lb brisket. Information technology is super easy to brand and I never accept leftovers. I don't make the sauce ahead of time. I make it right in the dull cooker afterwards I take the meat/broth out. Information technology requires little attention and makes your firm smell graat. I am making it for our Memorial Twenty-four hours cookout. The flavor is awesome. The 24 hr cooking time can be adapted by a few hours if y'all run out of time and start cooking information technology belatedly! Don't be afraid to try this. For those who gave information technology a poor rating, they couldn't have cooked information technology properly. I utilise a "mug" of coffee rather than just a cup, but it still makes a lot of goop during the cooking.
10/24/2010
I haven't made this still, but I was looking at the bad reviews. I noticed some people scaled the recipe downwardly for 4 people then complained that the brisket was burned. If you lot're using a 1 1/2 to 2 lb brisket, you can't cook it for 24 hours. You would take to reduce your cooking time. Try it over again and meet!
10/06/2010
I was always afraid to make beef brisket till this recipe. My 1st fourth dimension at beefiness brisket and information technology turned out tender and succulent. I cut the recipe in one-half and cooked the meat almost eight hours on low. The BBQ sauce is heavenly...PERFECT blending of flavors. I intend to make a large batch upward of the sauce and can it for other beef, pork and chicken recipes. I'll endeavor to cook it downward some just to thicken it a little. Succulent reccipe, Ly, thanks!
10/04/2010
This was crawly. I scaled the recipe downwardly to vi servings, and I used a 3lb pot roast (brisket is nearly impossible to find where I alive), cooked it on high for 4 hrs, and I also doubled the sauce. Y'all couldn't taste the java at all and the meat came out very tender. I will definitely be making this once more!
02/09/2011
This recipe is easy and excellent! Brand certain you use liquid java, non coffee grounds. Love Married man assembled this in the crock-pot for me and I came home to a brisket covered in coffee grounds! We had to wash the coffee grounds off, and despite this it was still some of the all-time brisket we've had...and we're from Texas!
02/27/2011
Excellent, tender meat. I'm not sure I really consider it "Texas" barbequeue.. equally some say, the sauce isn't overly bold, simply information technology's a pleasant tasting sauce. Y'all tin always ad lib the sauce ingredients to your taste anyway. I recollect that for the bug people are having with tough meat, one problem might be the cut of meat. The recipe calls for "untrimmed" beef. That will produce enough juice that the meat is basically floating in it's juices by the time you're done and can't possible dry out. I would avoid the trimmed brisket unless you add more liquids yourself (I really spooned out well-nigh two cups of juice well-nigh halfway through cooking because the crock pot was so total. I figure that I discarded near xl-fifty% of the original weight in juices and trimmed fatty, then an 8 lb untrimmed brisket isn't as much as it seems like information technology would be (of grade it's a fairly cheap cut of meat as well).
09/22/2010
This is the all-time barbeque beef I accept ever had! Commonly beefiness comes out chewy but this recipe is not only succulent but it is sooo easy to make. I love that! The merely thing I am going to change next fourth dimension is that there wasn't enough sauce. Adjacent time I am going to most likely double the sauce recipe. I served this on rolls with coleslaw and everyone ate it upwardly and kept asking to take some dwelling!! I promise y'all enjoy this every bit much equally nosotros did!!
09/15/2010
This is an awesome recipe that makes great charcoal-broil sandwiches! I'm non sure why some reviewers meat burnt...I had and so much juice with mine that I had to take quite a fleck out! I used the juice I removed to make Yorkshire Pudding (Mort Tibble'south recipe, this site) cause I love Yorkshire Pudding! The sauce with this recipe was sweet (which I similar, by the way), but subsequently calculation it to the meat with the juice in the slow-cooker, it toned down the sweetness a lot. Next fourth dimension I make this, I will probably add together a lilliputian more brown sugar! I cooked this a total 24 hours, and it was but fantastic! Highly recommended!
08/09/2010
So tough, stringy and flavorless I would not cartel endeavor it again.
04/10/2009
Nice work. I am 18 hours in right now and turned it to warm while added a little Dale'southward to spark up some early flavor. Before I added the couple T's of Dales I did sample the beef. It is astonishing what a vii.5 lb brisket and a loving cup of coffee can do with left alone. This is my start "off-smoker" brisket and I fully endorse the recipe. The sauce is spot on likewise with minor adjustments (a little less ketchup and some habenero chile). Onward!
07/27/2010
If you want to get a man to autumn in love with yous follow this recipe! Its even meliorate the adjacent day! However drain the extra juice out before you stick it in the frig for left overs or it will become waaaay to salty.
08/03/2010
This was splendid. I used beer in lieu of cola, and I similar to throw in the whole garlic cloves you can buy that are already shelled and in liquid which gives a lot of flavor. In that location was a bad review on here that said she scaled to 4 servings and still cooked for 24 hours. It does tell you when you change the servings that the directions do not modify, so you have to change the cooking time on your own. A small roast upwardly to I'd say 3 to 4 lbs should ever be washed in 8 hours. I e'er use a thermometer and accept swell results every fourth dimension!
08/01/2011
One probably would not imagine putting coffee, cola and dark-brown sugar together on some meat, merely I tell ya, this is absolutely past far i of the best recipes! I plant it on hither almost a month agone and this will be my 3rd tirme making it. It has become a staple recipe in my firm. If you lot know y'all will take a busy solar day, put this in the crock the nighttime before and dinner will be pretty much ready when yous get domicile! My husband is a pretty picky eater and he can't go enough of this! The only bad office about this recipe is you have to smell information technology all night and the next day, you won't desire to wait until dinner to accept it! Thank you Ly for sharing this recipe!
08/09/2010
Very expert. I would characterize this as a midwestern barbeque due to the sugariness sauce. Substituting some of the ketchup for chili sauce made it amend in my opinion. It would demand a much less sweet sauce to be Texas style. Slow cooking in java is a bonus, though. You can arrange the sauce to individual, regional tastes hands.
07/31/2010
For a 4-6 lb brisket, trim about 80 percent of the fat. Employ the same ingredients every bit shown but kick information technology upwards by adding some hot sauce and replace the ketchup with a good thick bbq sauce. Then identify it in a large roasting pan and pour the sauce over and melt at 200 in the oven for 8-ix hours and information technology will be i meal to brag nigh.
x/24/2010
I made this today and it was soooo good. I followed the recipe exactly except when I opened the packages of brisket it said to utilize the juices that came in the package when y'all cooked it. I cooked the brisket in the coffee every bit well as about 2 cups of juices that came with the brisket. I will laissez passer this on to others and make it again. A huge hit in my business firm.
07/24/2009
Put it on concluding dark and so it would be ready when I got home from work. Left the last 60 minutes for my daughter to do. Well the sauce got poured over merely information technology didn't get pulled autonomously. I will never cook a brisket on the grill once again. Loved information technology and we are in Texas. Nanc
07/06/2008
This was the all-time brisket we've always eaten! Not greasy, very tender, the sauce was wonderful! For my cola drink I used nutrition pepsi with cherry - considering that is what I had in the fridge. Turned out great!!! I cooked this over the seven/iv weekend and my family loved it. Will definitely use this recipe over again...information technology was easy and delicious!
12/05/2010
This was really good! We had a smaller portion and then nosotros didn't follow the cooking times, merely the meat and the sauce were succulent.
08/22/2011
Basic and good. I cooked in slow cooker for 24 hours so moved information technology to the stove -- I think the taste is better. I besides kept ALL the liquid information technology was cooking in, mixed in the sauce ingredients with a couple of tablespoons of some pepper/garlic seasoning I take, pulled information technology and let it simmer for an hour. Let it sit down another couple of hours and it reduced to a thick sauce. Lovely.
10/11/2009
Fantastic! Not dry at all and better than many of the brisket sandwiches that I have had at actually skillful BBQ places. I followed the directions but reduced the meat to 6 lbs simply kept the amount of sauce. I cooked for the full time as in the directions. Added merely a piffling hot sauce since others said it was a fiddling likewise sweet but seemed only fine to us. This will exist a family favorite!
06/30/2010
Good recipe. Never thought I would put a brisket in a crock pot, but this works.
05/22/2012
wonderful! nosotros adjusted the time for a smaller brisket - about 6 lbs and cooked xviii hours or and so. I'm not wild nigh liquid fume flavoring and then left it out, i'm sure if y'all similar smoke flavoring, i'm certain this recipe would all the same be exceptional! My married man was impressed because it didn't have the typical BBQ sauce flavor, information technology was subtle and a flake sweet. First-class recipe! cheers for sharing...
08/16/2010
I loved this recipe. The largest brisket I could find was not quite 8 lbs. I have a large oval crock pot and had to fold the brisket (fat side up) to fit it in the pot. I added the coffee and set the timer for the max...20 hours. After 4 hours, I added the other iv hours. We ate information technology the first time right out of the pot without sauce. I shredded it and added the sauce for our second dinner. Information technology was good as well.
08/31/2010
The meat is good and tender, but I feel like it should accept cooked with more seasoning rather than merely the coffee. Adjacent time I volition make that aligning. The sauce was a little bland for our taste, so I added some of our favorite sweet bbq sauce while it cooked for the last 60 minutes. Overall, information technology was average if you followed the recipe exactly. I'm sure I'll make it again, though and conform information technology for our personal tastes. Information technology was really easy and convenient. I'm all about that!!
02/26/2010
I've made this twice and both times information technology has turned out absolutely delicious. The offset time I halved it for a smaller brisket. I wonder if the people who wound up with a burnt brisket forgot to melt it on low, and used high instead? This has become a favorite for my family!
07/31/2010
I am curious to know if the people who complained abt burned meat adjusted the cook time. The recipe calculator reminds y'all that the directions remain for the original recipe, it only calculates the amt of the ingredients. Obviously yous are probably not going to cook significantly smaller amts of meat for the same time.
12/25/2010
I fabricated the for Christmas dinner and it was a large hit!
12/xx/2011
Very good, worth the effort.
09/12/2009
this recipe was awesome when following the directions AND serving size! :) Thank you for sharing
12/03/2010
The beef was very tender, but the sauce was lacking. I'm not sure if it was because in that location was a lot of juices and I didn't drain the juice off before I added the sauce? I did skim the fatty off first. I've had better pulled beefiness, and will keep looking for one our family enjoys.
07/20/2009
SOOO GOOD!!!! my hubby and i were sad when is was all gone!!! my mother and i are from TX and nosotros loved this recipe!!! she said it was the best she ever had!!! :) i made is to serve 6 so i only cooked it for 8 hours! it was perfect!!!! deceit wait to make it once again!!!
10/04/2010
It was ok, only I didn't like the flavor much. Didn't seem like BBQ simply information technology was ok.
09/06/2013
I don't commonly follow recipes, merely I was looking for a brisket that used Coca Cola in information technology. I tried this one, and the only thing, and I mean the only thing that needs to be amended on this recipe is, how does one shred the beef? I followed the instructions and the meat came out stringy and tough like some of the users have reported here. Unremarkably I would cut it across the grain, and this would have been out of this world.
08/03/2010
I dear beef brisket but have never cooked it in a boring cooker until I tried this recipe. I followed the instructions for cooking the meat exactly, though I did add a dry rub to the come across. My brisket was well-nigh 4 pounds then I cutting everything in one-half. I set up my crock pot on low and began the process. After well-nigh sixteen hours of cooking, I realized the business firm smelled like the meat was burning. Boy was I glad I checked it! The coffee had all burned off, the drippings in the crock pot had burned, and the meat was starting to fire. Fortunately, I was able to salvage the meal, but if I hadn't been dwelling house and just trusted this to cook for 24 hours, my family dinner would have been completely ruined. I've read the other comments about burned meat and I'thou wondering if you need to cut downwardly the cooking time when you lot use a smaller brisket. Besides, I used a different, bolder recipe for the sauce (also on this website). Information technology turned out great, but if I try it once more, I'll either cutting downwardly the cooking time or stick with the oven. The reward to the crock pot is it doesn't heat upward the whole firm.
09/xx/2009
I made this on labor mean solar day for annual political party, beginning time, what a hitting with the family unit and friends.not a stitch of leftovers.all ready asking when I will make it again.Minnesota thanks y'all Texas,it was dandy.
ten/04/2011
Succulent. Marinade is sooo good.
08/03/2010
This smelled and so good while it was cooking that we could hardly wait to eat it, and it didn't disappoint. My husband raved virtually information technology, and loves the leftovers just as much. Will definitely make again presently.
10/03/2011
Excellent BBQ. I fabricated exactly as directed and it was a huge hitting. Fifty-fifty my picky ix year quondam ate it and said information technology was the all-time BBQ he always had. I will exist making this again.
08/22/2010
This was great. I used a smaller brisket and omitted the liquid fume. I'm all for cooking things is strong black coffee, so had to try it. I have a freezer full of elk [thanks to my hunter] and I'thou going to endeavor this on ane of those roasts- encounter if it can work some magic on that!
07/17/2008
I made this on Memorial Day for out of boondocks Family unit and they all raved. Even my husband said he liked it better than the Bar-B-Q beef I unremarkably make.
02/01/2015
Crawly! Cooked an 8 pounder on depression for just over viii hours. Perfecto! Wouldn't change a matter! Tip: If you take a picky eater, take some of the meat out and fix aside, roofing it with some of the sauce from the crockpot, before you add the sauce to the crock pot. It's great obviously, too!
03/17/2012
Excellent recipe! Made information technology several fourth dimension, turned out dandy each time. IMO the key is to become a good roast for a tedious cooker. Went to a butcher, he gave me a blade roast. He said information technology won't be tough when cooked for 24 plus hours. GLTA
06/23/2011
This was so easy to do. It just took time, that'due south all. I am a beginner when it comes to cooking meats other than chicken and ground beef. This was an excellent recipe and my family and friends loved it.
05/27/2013
Lose the coffee. I've tried this several times every bit I've searched for a brisket recipe that my honeybunny will like (he doesn't similar the traditional Irish application) and I proceed trying to tweak this one and information technology'southward come up down to the coffee - lose it. I also added some smoked paprika, cumin and a packet of bulky onion soup mix. MUCH BETTER! Seriously though, the coffee needs to go. I finally put my finger on it and that'southward what it was. With those additions and the omission of the coffee it's fabulous!
09/04/2012
This is my 7th fourth dimension using this recipe. My whole family loves it! We usually top a baked spud with this brisket and some spicy BBQ sauce. Information technology is delicious!
01/17/2010
This was pretty good. Non the best BBQ I've ever had, but decent nonetheless. My fiance wasn't especially impressed, only he can sometimes be picky lol!!! For the expense incurred, I think I'll stick with my standby BBQ beef recipe (besides made with a homemade sauce - which is absolutely delish!). I ended up using a 2.5 lb. brisket since I was cooking for just the two of us. It cost me $14 bucks (whoa!). If I didn't have all of the other ingredients readily available, I probably would take used a unlike cut of meat to keep the cost down (since I'd have to purchase all of the other stuff) or skipped this recipe alltogether (which I didn't want to do). I pretty much followed this exact except for adding several shakes of Tabasco hot sauce due to other'due south alarm of sweetness. I don't call back it made much difference though (oh well!). Served on fresh kaiser rolls with a generous heaping of coleslaw (on our sandwiches, simply you could serve as a side if this idea doesn't bladder your boat) and kettle chips on the side, this was an easy-to-fix, filling Dominicus evening meal. I must say, you can't trounce the convenience factor, and for that alone, I give v stars (minimal cleanup!). Thanks for sharing! :-)
06/21/2010
This recipe was fantastic! I ever used the oven to slow cook my brisket, merely never again!!! This meat had a wonderful beef flavor and superb, tender texture. I used a two i/2 lb brisket I purchased at my local meat market. and adjusted the recipe accordingly (half dozen servings). I also lessened the cooking time to xiii hours. The meat pulled apart with ease. I tin recommend this recipe and I will definately be making this over again!
03/29/2012
This is the best brisket I have ever fabricated!!! I didn't have the 25 hours to melt it in, simply I left it on high for 5 hours then on depression for ii hours. Information technology was and then tender!!!! This is going in to the box.^Five^
02/xix/2011
I had 2 lbs of brisket, so I followed the advice of cooking it on loftier for 2 hours in the crockpot, and then low for half-dozen hours. I wasn't 100% sure if I was supposed to go along cooking it in coffee along with the other liquids, or dump the java. And then I drained the coffee before adding the sauce for the final hour. My only experience with brisket is Armadillo Willies, which seems really all well-nigh the BBQ sauce. At first, I thought this recipe was just okay when I took a seize with teeth from the pot. But and so my boyfriend came over with a large sandwich from the local cheese steak shop (he didn't know I was cooking). I made a sandwich with this brisket, and we did a taste test of both sandwiches. This recipe was 100x better than the recipe from the sandwich store. Fifty-fifty though they tried to flavour theirs up with peppers, onions, and cheese... theirs wasn't as good… and I didn't even put all that stuff on mine.
08/02/2010
It was excellent. I made information technology for iv people and reduced the cook times due to the much smaller portion. It just fabricated sense. Very tender and tasty.
07/08/2011
simply a personal selection on the rating. not my loving cup of tea!
09/xx/2011
Nosotros loved this recipe. It was the first time I tried making brisket and the reviews are right. there is new enough left over.
08/21/2010
I omitted the liquid smoke and made everything else exactly as is ... WOW!! this is some great stuff. I finally accept a actually good beef brisket recipe i can utilize all year round!
04/fourteen/2011
yummy
04/10/2012
I suppose everyone is different and no ane's taste buds are the same, but this recipe was a HUGE striking. I of the best beef recipes I have ever made. I scaled the recipe down to a serving of 6 and did things only slightly differently (more often than not just adding a bit more than of what the recipe already called for). *covered the bottom of slow-cooker with ane/two cup of beef brother before adding brisket & coffee *added two extra teaspoons of liquid smoke *added a few extra teaspoons of worcestershire *added four tablespoons of Louisiana Hot Sauce *added an extra couple splashes of cola *added 1/3 loving cup of my favorite bbq sauce to the bootleg sauce cooked meat on low for approximately four hours (but had 3 1/2 pounds of meat), removed dish from ho-hum-cooker, added sauce mixture and refrigerated overnight. The next solar day I cooked the brisket w/mixture on high for an 60 minutes, then depression for 1 more hour. I can't give thanks allrecipes enough for this fantastic recipe!!!
05/05/2019
I put it in my slow cooker for xi hours. Information technology was very tender, but not a lot of flavor. I used my ain bottled sauce (because I love information technology) and then I tin't speak to the sauce in the recipe. Nosotros used the leftovers in tacos and they were practiced. Overall, good recipe and got me over my fear of fixing brisket.
03/17/2010
No aught to this. I will proceed to search for a better brisket recipe.
11/27/2013
This is by far one of my husbands all-time favorite recipes. I do spice it upwards quite a bit by adding jalapenos and ghost peppers (he loves spicy). It's a very elementary recipe with very trivial prep time. Dandy for parties and picnics.
11/24/2018
Anybody loved this. Nosotros apply root beer for the soda, and common cold mash for the java, simply we comprehend the meat with the coffee...Style more than 1 loving cup! Soooooo very skilful. Kids loved information technology, even my picky eater, guests loved information technology, hubby loved it... cooking it correct now, once again!
03/21/2019
I followed the recipe as written, turning the meat to warm subsequently 22 hours and the meat was tender and so juicy. The sauce though is incredible! My married man is a tough critic and he said it was amazing! He told me print out this recipe and put it in my cookbook to add to our rotation! Honey this recipe!
09/twenty/2013
I made this for our wine club. I had to brand two huge briskets to serve about twoscore people. Everybody raved about it! There were NO leftovers. Tonight I'one thousand making it again as everyone begged for a echo performance.
05/04/2016
This was my first brisket and I made information technology for visiting family. It was a Hitting. Made as directed, except I had simply 18 hrs to tiresome cook instead of 24. No matter - information technology turned out great and the sauce was first-class! Only minor change I fabricated was to brown the beef prior. Will definitely make again. Don't shy away from the long slow-cook fourth dimension!
02/17/2015
Very good...family unit enjoyed information technology. The meat was tender...only wish it was a way to get information technology but a trivial bit more than tender.
08/31/2013
This is amazing brisket! Have made information technology several times. Makes a lot merely u Will want leftovers!
08/25/2013
Very good. Used a ten lb brisket. Had to remove drippings as they got close to the rim. Did the whole 24 60 minutes cooking method.
09/22/2012
i have never cooked a brisket before- this was the kickoff fourth dimension- succulent and easy!! served it at a dinner and it was gobbled correct upward! next time I will add a piffling more "spice" to it - maybe some hot sauce to the recipe.
06/06/2014
This was delicious! I adjusted the cooking fourth dimension for a 6 lb brisket, cooking it for about 16 hours. Definitely reduce the sauce before because it is runny.
10/19/2015
Follow the recipe and the roast was as tough as leather.
09/09/2013
Commencement time trying a brisket in the slow cooker...later reading all the reviews, both skillful and bad, I must say it turned out quite skillful. My 5-1/2 qt slowcooker was but barely big enough for an 8lb brisket, only I cut it in half & it fit! I simply cooked it for 12 hrs on low as my Rival SmartPot crockpot cooks manner too hot, even on low & it was done perfectly. I shredded information technology last night, refridgerated it & volition add the sauce tonight, warming it stovetop. I also just ordered a new slow cooker (a different brand)! Hopefully the new one will be more reliable as nosotros want to accept this again & once more. Maybe other are having the same problems with their slow cookers, if and then decrease the time on this and other recipes. Patently the manufacturer does make quite a divergence. Thanks for posting!

This works great in a slow cooker or the oven at about 250 degrees. When I use the oven, it just cooks all night. There are only three people in our household, then I like to cook enough for our freezer. After all, I don't want to spend a lot of time cooking every day, especially in this Texas heat. When they are on auction, I e'er purchase the largest untrimmed brisket I can observe, After cooking, removing the fat, skimming fat from the goop and pulling the meat only earlier calculation any kind of sauce; I freeze packages with enough meat and goop for one meal each. We can and so employ this nice tender, juicy meat for a variety of different meals. i.e. add together taco seasoning and make taco/burrito, flavor and utilize for a type of French Dip sandwich, add the BBQ sauce and serve on a bun. It is so versitile and handy to have a supply of this wonderful meat in the freezer and be able to utilise it in a number of dissimilar ways so you don't get tired of the same repast over and over. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe. Those who had problems with the meat being dry, must take done one of two things; one cooked a trimmed brisket or 2 used a slow cooker much too large for the amount of meat beingness cooked. There should be a LOT of liquid in the pan at the finish of cooking time (a lot of which is fat, so be sure to skim it). Love Love Dear this recipe.

Made this today....wow was it ever good. The but thing I did differently out of necessity, was to employ Heinz chili sauce instead of ketchup. This is a keeper. cheers for Sharing

Cut the servings down to five (2 lb brisket). Cutting the cook time down to 6 hours. Could peradventure exist seasoned with garlic or cayenne, only delicious every bit is!

This recipe isn't too bad. When I remember Texas Mode though, this isn't exactly the flavor I envision. However, its quite elementary and despite the fact that my crock pot picked this recipe to become haywire on the temp settings, it was quite palatable. The In Laws loved it every bit did our Aunt and Uncle down the route. There is lots to share and still we will have some for tomorrow. I'll arrive again. I was thinking it would exist a great dish for a reunion or pot luck gathering.

This can be adapted for instant pot by calculation a cup of beef goop and pressure cooking for 2 hrs. The cease product is nicely tender, and if you season well (be VERY generous with the seasoning), it'south a great way to make a lot of BBQ beef for sandwiches.

I was quite skeptical considering of the ingredients, but will apply this equally our principal brisket recipe at present! Was a good mix of sweet and spicy. Will add a bit more spice next time though to adapt my family unit's taste!

This irksome cooker brisket was a homerun all the way. I followed the recipe equally written. The BBQ sauce came out adept and was neither on the as well sweetness or on the spicy side. I ended upwards adding some Sweet Infant Ray's BBQ sauce at the table and it was awesome. I paired information technology with twice baked potatoes, sweet corn, and followed it up with ruby-red velvet cheesecake swirl brownies for dessert.

Temperature is and so very important when cooking something for that long but all y'all say is Low. I cook mine an hour and a one-half per pound around 220F but maintaining the temperature is difficult on an outdoor grill.

I used strong black coffee (Community brand) and Royal Crown Cola. First, 24 hours is waaaay too long. Secondly, I'm not certain the coffee added annihilation to the taste of the concluding product. The sauce role of the recipe is okay. What it tastes like in a bowl is way different than the gustatory modality you get when you add information technology to the brisket., I really wanted to piece the brisket but the 24 hour cook time fabricated shredding it the just pick.

I made this in my Crock Pot which I consider a "slow-cooker" and it was well done inside ten hours. There was no way I would have been able to cook it for the 24 hours as indicated in the directions. Is a Crock Pot not a "slow-cooker"? The recipe itself was very good, but would have been better had it not been overcooked (in the 10 hour time frame). Haven't fabricated it since, just willing to try again.

So good! Used most a iii pound brisket and came out very tender subsequently 24 hours. Tastes similar it came off the grill! Had to drain the liquid a couple times to keep information technology from getting also submerged. Likewise added some spices afterward pouring in the coffee (salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic and onion powder, cumin, oregano).

A new and different fashion to cook a brisket - We have avoided buying brisket for the past few years because of the extremely high price, but we constitute one that was reasonable so I decided to give this a try - yous demand to scale down the recipe and fourth dimension if you take a smaller roast and I also cutting upwardly a whole onion and placed the thick slices nether the brisket in some of the coffee before cooking - this way the meat was not directly on the bottom of the crock - this not only worked well to keep the meat from burning, but the onions caramelized in the coffee/juice mixture - added the sauce to what remained at the lesser, so poured the residual over the top and let it all blend together for the last hour - excellent!

Non at all as flavorful as I was hoping. I wonder if the bitter coffee was the problem? Not going to exercise this one again.
